The coronavirus pandemic is taking a growing toll around the world.
The dangerous virus has paralyzed almost the entire world, and many countries have decided to take significant steps to prevent the appearance of further cases of infection, and as a result, numerous deaths.
Of course, countries are protecting citizens by enacting numerous bans, such as minimizing the operation of shopping malls, service outlets, restaurants and cultural and artistic venues, urging them to stay in their homes.
However, it is worth noting that without taking basic precautions on a daily basis and without taking care of daily hygiene, the strictures will be of no use.

How is the COVID-19 virus transmitted?

As is widely known, the coronavirus first appeared in China, and its path was not at all as long as it might seem.
All it took was for one person infected with the coronavirus to return from vacation, flying on a plane where he infected more people, and those infected more people.
That’s how COVID-19 spread around the world, becoming a pandemic, as declared by the World Health Organization.
The virus, like the flu, can be contracted through the droplet route.
All it takes is for an infected person to sneeze or cough near another person.
In the case of young people with no illnesses, the virus may not show any symptoms.
However, if it is a person who has comorbidities, is immunocompromised, or is elderly, the symptoms of coronavirus act at a rapid pace, leading to serious consequences.
How to guard against infecting yourself and your loved ones?

Basic hygiene measures

The COVID-19 virus can persist on various surfaces for up to several days, so frequent hand washing is extremely important.
Any mundane reflexes like rubbing the eye or touching the mouth can prove dangerous if the virus is on their surface.
Washing your hands for about 15-30 seconds with soap or other detergent will get rid of the virus from their surface, thus protecting yourself from infection.
Wash your hands as often as possible – after coming from work or the store, after unpacking groceries, after public transportation and before you start eating.
However, hand washing is not the only option.
We can’t always wash our hands, but in that case it’s a good idea to carry an antibacterial gel with a high alcohol content (at least 60%), which will effectively disinfect your hands.

In addition to hand disinfection, frequent cleaning of usable surfaces is also very important.
At home, we have control over this and can keep doorknobs, countertops, chairs or appliances clean relatively often.
However, what about in the situation of leaving the house, for example, to the store?
We can never be sure whether a person infected with coronavirus was riding in the elevator we’re riding in, nor are we aware whether the virus is on the cart in a self-service store or on the doorknob in a stairwell.
That’s why it’s a good idea to get disposable gloves and wear them when leaving the house.

When we are in public places, we come into contact with various people and surfaces.
In order to avoid contracting COVID-19, the following precautions should be taken:

One of the basic issues during a coronavirus pandemic is also to avoid gatherings of people.
If it is not necessary, it is advisable to limit all gatherings, including with family, to a complete minimum, in order to protect not only yourself, but especially your parents or grandparents from COVID-19.
Only discipline in daily hygiene and taking all precautions will limit the spread of the virus and reduce the likelihood that we, too, will become ill.
